February’s North of Stella delivery! ✨
When words don't suffice, flowers may be used to express our emotions. In the modern world, we share flowers to convey love, sympathy, regret, and cheer. However, stories of mysterious blooms like those of the sacred water-lily reveal that flowers carry something much greater—the essence of the divine.
We see evidence of this relationship as far back as Ancient Egypt, where Egyptians carved pictures of lotus flowers into the walls of tombs, temples, and their pharaoh’s thrones. For them, a flower that seemingly sleeps below the water and rises each morning, was a symbol of death, rebirth, and the confirmation of reincarnation. Gods and Goddesses like Atum-Ra, Nefertem, and Hapi are some of the deities whose spirits intertwine with that of the lotus flower.
Outside of the Egyptian Pantheon, Hindu deities like Ganesha and Lakshmi stand upon a bed of lotus flowers to symbolize their enlightenment and eternal lifeforce. And in Buddhism, Buddha himself claims a lotus flower for his throne—referencing the yoga and meditation position by the same name.
Anytime we feel a bit ‘stuck’ in life, we can take comfort knowing that the most beautiful lotus flowers grow from the murkiest waters. This revelation suggests that despite obscure circumstances, with ample patience and self-awareness, we all can reach the light...🖤
