🧬Maintaining -VS- Progressing • • In order to make proper progression in the sport of Bodybuilding(Open, 212, Classic, Figure, Wellness, Men’s Physique, Bikini, and Fitness) it very important we take adequate measures to continue to fire on all cylinder year around. Simple things can fix the loss of consistency and progression when no longer on prep, and the biggest one to stress is having a coach. While having a coach for prep is great majority of your growth relies on a strongly developed off season. It’s vey common that competitors only feel they need a coach while prepping, but when it comes to placings and longevity in the sport the year around Coach makes a clear difference. With that being said, for those who have coaches and stay damn near stage lean year around when do you feel you have room for progression. Yes, I can see that you may be able to improve stage presence and posing, but no growth or development. In sport that constantly has criteria changes, dissected and compared by the human eye, what makes you think you’re in a place to remain the same? This sport is about progress and getting better each day, week, month, and year. Think about this… Every time you get up from a seated position, you are affectively doing a squat ... Aside from working the muscles in your thighs, butt, and hips, the barbell squat also targets your core and back muscles, helping improve your posture, and carve a nicer looking backside to boot. Not to mention packing on more muscle helps you to burn more calories at rest .. while strong legs look nice in a pair of shorts and help us to do every day things with more ease, we will all appreciate squats more in our later years ... Strong legs and hips, particularly, are critically important for healthy aging. How To Bring Up Weaker Areas? - This was a question that came into my direct messages in the middle of this session I thought I’d express my thoughts in a post👇🏻. - 1 - EXERCISE EXECUTION. This is the most important aspect of your training. If you are not contracting that particular body part why on earth would it grow? Ask yourself if you are feeling the contractions when going through your reps. If you get off a machine and feel nothing in the muscle you are training you need to assess a few things. Drop the load, focus on taking it through it’s entire range, pause in the lengthened and shortened part of the movement, squeeze really really hard throughout then get off the machine and ask your self if you can feel it where you should. - 2 - EXERCISE SELECTION. Are you performing moves that fit your particular biomechanics? Are you training in movements that you feel and can connect with very well. To me this seems obvious BUT you need to choose moves that you feel and can progress well over time. - 3 - INTENSITY AND OVERLOAD. Are you training that area hard? Are you adding load/reps over time? Are you applying 100% effort into every set? If you are not then you need to question yourself. Without effort/intensity you won’t get ever get anywhere. So many people prance around the gym doing absolutely nothing productive, instead get yourself a log book and get your head down and actually move forward. - 4 - PATIENCE AND A CALORIE SURPLUS. Again this seems seemingly obvious to me I do understand not everyone is able to break down things in their head like I can. Changing your physique takes time. It takes months/years to make appreciable changes so need to be patient, it won’t happen overnight. You also need to be eating in a surplus of calories. Without a efficient surplus you won’t grow anywhere near enough as you potentially could do if you actually consumed your calories. - 🎥 - UnderHand Pulldown 4PPS X6. This is a PB. Contractions on this are amazing. I’ve been able to add load pretty much weekly which has reflected in my back. 🎥 - Incline Machine Press 3.5PPS. This was a rep PB. Having this 3rd in this session is very hard but I’m enjoying it. - #UpperBody

Spoke with Alex Bozinovski @alexbozinovski at length last night and his prep for the 2020 NPC Universe is officially underway. Alex will be doing a regional show by him in June followed by the Univrse July 4th weekend here in NJ in both Classic Physique as well as Open Bodybuilding. Alex will be visiting NY and getting some workouts in at the East Coast Mecca @bevsgym next month after I get back from the Arnold. He sent me a current video of his current look last night before we spoke and I am quite sure that the best Alex is coming. Good news for the sport and potentially bad news for his competition. He has as much potential as anybody and is not missing a part. Alex is the real deal if he comes in and handles his business properly for the Universe. He has potential to win big IFBB Pro shows one day. Definitely keep your eye on this guy. It’s been a while since I’ve taken progress pictures and just solely looking at the scale. It wasn’t moving hardly at all. Coach said don’t look or worry at the scale anymore and as long as you’re making strength gains each week that’s progress. So I waited a while to take pics. ⁣ ⁣ Top row is at a weight of 230lbs. Bottom row is 237lbs and 5 months later. I was happy to see the outcome. We managed to add on a noticeable size difference and actually end up leaner and heavier than our starting point. ⁣ ⁣ This is a prime example of how important your offseason is to your prep season. Stay consistent all year round and your physique will reflect that. Also having a coach who is a GOAT and truly cares about your success and your not just added number client that he has to brag about is also just as important.
