#representationmatters Happy #heartawareness month ❤️. Did you know that heart disease is the number 1 cause of death for women in America? It was such an honour for @shantiwithin to be invited to be a part of this inspiring @hoagpromise @hoaghealth expert panel of women discussing how meditation and mindfulness can help with heart health for their Galentine’s day brunch. Nothing gives me greater joy than spreading the ancient science of yoga as a way to reduce stress.
It also was a true blessing to sit on the same panel as Dr Dipti Itchhaporia MD, FACC, FESC a twice Endowed Chair for Cardiac Care at Hoag Hospital! as a Robert and Georgia Roth Endowed Chair in 2010 and the Eric and Sheila Samson Endowed Chair in 2019 which is an amazing feat of accomplishment! Dr Itchhaporia is the Director of the Heart and Vascular Institute at Hoag Hospital and Associate Clinical Professor at University of California, Irvine. She is also Vice President Elect of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Chair for the ACC‘s International Conference in the Middle East.
As if this was not enough Dr Itchhaporia this year will take over as the first ever Woman of color President of the American College of Cardiology in their 71 year history. Talk about smashing through glass ceilings 🙌🏾🙌🏾. I can’t wait to work with Dr Itchhaporia more in the future on my passion of using meditation and mindfulness as a way to manage disease and stress #southasianwomen #heartdisease #stressmanagement #browngirlmagic #womeninmedicine #hearthealth
